We took a quick trip to London while we were staying in France. We traveled via Eurostar which took about an hour and a half. We paid about 150 USD per person round trip. We had an early departure out of France which got us to London just prior to 10AM.
Getting around London via the underground (metro/subway/train), is so simple.
We used Google maps which if you didn’t know, is super helpful because it provides precise train and bus arrival and departure times.
Our first stop was to visit THE Abbey Road since this was the furthest destination we were going to hit. If youβre a Beatles fan, this is a must see. Just be careful because even though there are tons of people taking in the sights, its still an active roadway and some of the locals have no desire to slow down or stop to let you take a picture lol. We walked across the famous road and then visited Abbey Road Studios which is free to enter and has some cool memorabilia .
We visited the following locations after in this order β we choose to walk when we can and found this very walkable.
Abbey Road Metro from ST. Johns Wood to Green Park (Jubilee line) and then it was about a 15 minute walk to Buckingham Palace.
Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey (15 minute walk)
Westminster Abbey to Big Ben (5 minute walk)
Than it was time for Afternoon Tea! We had booked reservations at Corinthia London β they have a wonderful afternoon tea in their Crystal Moon Lounge. I did a lot of research looking for an exceptional afternoon tea location and this was at the top of a lot of lists.
We had the Champagne afternoon tea which was about 90USD per person. You can definitely find cheaper options but this was incredible.
After that we made our way to our hotel to check in and drop off our bags.
We stayed at the Novotel London in Canary Wharf. This hotel was a bit of a way from all the main attractions β which was perfect for us. We got there via the Metro which took about 20 minutes.
At this point it was pouring rain.. typical London.
The next day we decided we were going to walk along the River Thames to see all the amazing scenery. It was about 6 miles. We had incredible views of Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Shakespearβs Globe and finally the London Eye and Big Ben.
Then, a London must, proper Fish and Chips for Lunch. We went to a pub called Nicholsonβs but there are plenty all over to choose from.
From there we headed back to the station to catch our Eurostar back to Paris.
2 days is definitely NOT enough time to see all London has to offer but we will definitely be back one day.
